After having watched many videos that clearly prove that raccoons generally cannot be domesticated, while noting that they love living in urban environments, I theorized that cats and dogs did not become our faithful companions overnight, or that it likely took hundreds of years for the canine and feline dynamics of our contemporary pet population to matriculate, meaning that it's possible we are in the midst of a centuries long mass domestication of raccoons, who, like cats and dogs, will likely continue to spend much of their time outdoors if globally adopted, perhaps even spending the night in trees from time to time, while dogs and cats ponder their alternative behaviours.

Raccoons see the easy lives cats and dogs are living.

And may be asking themselves, "can we live that way too? Is it possible for us to live amongst these ingenious humans while preserving our freedoms as they tenderly care for us? Can we live in luxury like these cats and dogs? Would such accommodations include the possibility of bananas?"
