I'm wondering if the reason that I've had so many more wildlife sightings than usual in recent years, is that the surrounding forest has finally matured. 

It's possible that around 150 years after it was clearcut, it has finally regained fully-functioning forest status. 

The sightings did increase a lot after COVID with its lack of economic activity as well, but they didn't decrease years later as I thought they would.
