Jenkins

Ah, but you are alone now Jenkins, aren't you, new town, roundabout the way. And you have a job but are familiar with no one who is familiar with you and you're clean slate is sheltered by a fox.

"Okay, I know, new job, don't know anyone, I'm here to work, I don't care, I don't need this."

Tiss, Tiss, but Jenk, you know that it keeps you hard, keeps you alert, show no weakness, dare recoil.

"This isn't that kind of a situation. This is just a new job in a new town that's relatively peaceful and does not structure its social working life around Hollywoodian caprice."

But they're watching too don't you know, watching and learning, signs, signposts, stigmas, that was the wrong tone, your mispronunciation was noticed, it will cost you your promotion, take not of these words.

"But people aren't like that, lunatic. They forget, it doesn't matter, it's like a cube of ice, who cares, there's plenty more, I drink apple cider and am learning to play the banjo. These things matter, not debt and dead-ends, there's a point here, a future, building."

But how many floors does that building have and how many windows?

"It's a five and dime. You asked me that yesterday."

No need to be rude.
