Montréal Alouettes/Toronto Argonauts: can't see the Argonauts winning this one. Toronto did beat the Alouettes early on in the season but Montréal outscored them 55 to 22 in their two wins later on. The Alouettes also only have two losses versus the Western Division this year with wins over both Calgary and B.C. They've only lost twice at home, and since rejoining the CFL have a 5 and 3 record against the Argonauts in Divisional Finals games, only one of those losses coming when they had secured the bye. I think if the Alouettes let up for a second Toronto will be all over them and if they turn the ball over the Argos will capitalize. Toronto was impressive last week and scoring 31 points in one quarter must have set or come close to setting a playoff record. Still though, Alouettes over Argonauts all the way. Montréal leads throughout most of the game, but the Argos keep it close.
B.C. Lions/Calgary Stampeders: B.C. 13 and 5, the Stampeders, 13 and 6. Since 1999, these teams have played three times in the second round, Calgary winning twice. The Stampeders scored more points than B.C. during the regular season (535 to 479) but the Lions had the better defence (354 to 430). They met three times, B.C. winning twice, Calgary outscoring them by 20 the last time they played. The Stampeders demonstrated that when they need to score they will no matter how much time's left on the clock last Sunday. The Lions have only lost once at home this year and are looking like repeat Grey Cup champions. Nevertheless, I'm picking Calgary. Hope it's as intense as yesterday's Roughriders/Stampeders matchup. Why not, Calgary by 3.
