Time for another round of the CFL Playoffs with Edmonton taking on the Argonauts and the Roughriders travelling to Calgary. Here are my picks for the semi-finals:
Toronto Argonauts/Edmonton Eskimos: pretty cool matchup here with Ricky Ray facing off against the team which he twice lead to Grey Cup victory. He has home field advantage and Toronto's won their last two games. The Argonauts had an average season, never really looking that great but always seeming like they had the potential to win. The Eskimos beat Toronto twice earlier on but of their 7 total wins 5 came in their first 8 games. At the same time, Edmonton lost three games by 1 point, 2 games by 2 points, and 1 game by 3 points. It could be close, Hamilton having almost come back to win last Thursday night versus the Argos, down 14 late in the fourth quarter (have you seen Henry Burris's outstanding 2012 stats?), but I think that with the Grey Cup being played in Toronto this year, the Argonauts will at least make second round. Pickin' Toronto.
Calgary Stampeders/Saskatchewan Roughriders: the Stampeders have won 5 of their last 6, including a 41-21 victory over BC on October 26th. The game's being played in Calgary where they went 7 and 2 this season, winning their last 5. The Stamps beat Saskatchewan twice during their 3 meetings this year but every game was close enough, they haven't played for a while, and the Rider faithful will undoubtably pose an audible threat (love those fans). Saskatchewan's season was similar to Toronto's but they lost one more game. They've also lost 4 of their last 5. I'm hoping the Roughriders win and generally cheer for them as long as they aren't playing the Ti-Cats, but I think Calgary's bound to take this one. Stampeders by 6.
*Dislike it when I don't pick a road team.
