Doesn't Gronk have to play with Brady? The alternative's unthinkable! 🏈

Brady Retires

After all these years, Tom Brady finally retires. With both playoff and regular season records that seem impossible to beat. What an amazing career. What an outstanding quarterback.

I wouldn't be surprised if he changes his mind at some point, he's still athletic enough to play the game, and could easily challenge again should he feel the need.

But why not retire, take a year off in Hawaii and pursue personal goals (perhaps much longer than a year). The philanthropic potential is high. What a career. What a fortune.

One thing that impressed me about Brady was that he never seemed to age, he seemed to be having as much fun playing football when he was 44 as he did when he was 25, he always seemed like he absolutely loved playing football, and that unchecked youthful spirit, was generally inspirational, even if you were tired of him winning.

For me, the highlight of his career was going to Tampa and winning the Super Bowl. He asked himself, could he do it again with a different team?, a struggling team?, and he did it, he made it happen.

Guess I'll never see him defeat the team I'm cheering for in the last two minutes of a regular season or playoff game again (it's happened so many times). Phew.

But there was a time when he was Drew Bledsoe's backup.

And I eagerly cheered him on to Super Bowl victory.

Unbelievable. Beyond incredible. I really don't know what to say. Hey, I'm a Broncos fan, it's Elway and Manning for me, but Tom Brady's 7 Super Bowl wins cannot be dismissed, the English language needs a new word to describe what Tom Brady has accomplished.

Bradysesque.

In Tampa Bay.

I thought Tampa would probably make the playoffs with Brady, and thought they might win the Super Bowl, but wow, it actually happened, Tom Brady actually won the Super Bowl with Tampa Bay.

At home.

Congratulations to Bucs fans. It's been a rough stretch since your last win. Congratulations to my friend Mark, who I hope doesn't hate me. I hope you're still playing the guitar and keepin' it real.

And Brady will be back, even though he's 43. I was wondering what drives him, what makes him perhaps the best athlete to ever play any sport ever, and I was reminded of a play where he threw the ball away, seemingly in desperation, versus the Pack in the NFC Conference Championship. It seemed like a rookie mistake, but that's the point, Brady rarely makes mistakes like a rookie quarterback, but he still plays the game like a kid, which means he's never lost that youthful enthusiasm, he may be older, but he still possesses indomitable will.

And if you still have that youthful enthusiasm when you're playing at 43, who knows how long you'll play.

Congratulations Mr. Brady.

Congratulations Bucs fans.

Bradyesque.

Really, I don't know what else to say.

Week 1: Belichick.
Week 2: Brady.

*Belichick still shows up in spellcheck.

I admit that I wasn't that interested in seeing Tom Brady win the Super Bowl again in New England, not to irritate old school Pats fans but they've just won it so many times, but seeing him win again in Tampa (assuming he doesn't have to play the Broncos [in the best case scenario the Broncos defeat Tampa in the Super Bowl]) would be pretty cool, what a huge shock to wake up to this morning. He went to Tampa, he didn't go to, I don't know, Minnesota or San Francisco or Houston or the Chargers, that's pretty cool in my books, an uphill battle even though the Bucs were competitive and exciting last year, there is nothing boring about this move, and it's a cool distraction from coronaviral inundation. Plus, he plays Drew Brees twice a year now. What a Monday nighter! It looks like they'll never play for the Super Bowl, and Sanders won't face Trump for the presidency, but those are two intriguing regular season games to add a bit flair to next season. Excited over here. Hoping Cam Newton and Matt Ryan put up a fight too.

For all the new age Patriots fans out there, are you Pats fans, or Tom Brady fans?
