O slavnosti a hostech (A Report on the Party and Guests)

A group of freespirited observant individuals head out to relax unassuming, their picnic presenting a wide host of delectable goods, the conversation light yet piqued and thought provoking, friendship electrifying as time saunters on.

An important figure is celebrating a marriage in the same embowered locale, and for a while lets them rest undisturbed, before deciding to bluntly interrupt them.

They have no authority throughout the land and there's no one they can call to complain, since the authorities are causing the disturbance, for shits and giggles, or so it seems.

Lines are drawn in the pasteurized sanctuary which cannot be freely crossed, as a goon exercises lavish contempt, and asks questions with no apparent purpose.

Rebellion defies him and attempts to depart only to be challenged head on and resolutely, as others seek peaceful relations, and their captors slowly lose interest.

But then the figure makes an appearance and offers sympathetic glad hands at first, inviting them to take part in the festivities, which are about to get under way.

Some see opportunity knocking and their mild-manners are quickly rewarded, with dialogue and coveted seats, first hand insights into the ruling party.

But one of them secretly resents his cherished freedoms being taken away, and disappears when no one is watching, to the dismay of his newfound liege.

A political hallucination allegorically attired interrogates freedom within stark constraints, as O slavnosti a hostech (A Report on the Party and Guests) discerns eruditely, and characters adopt instinctual remonstrance.

Or sycophancy, or just plain curiosity, the situation tempts what's out of the ordinary, but only after order's established, and initial taunts are dressed up bemused.

How to best proceed can depend upon manifold factors, and trying to clarify which set you've encountered can unsettle 'til patterns accrue.

Like any job interview their caught unaware, yet hoping to make a good impression, displaying their wits and applicable abilities, with lively caution and cheerful goodwill.

But the allegory extends beyond work and independent thought will not be tolerated.

No passing by unnoticed.

Every movement a stockpiled brand.

Nice, anyways, when there's freedom to be had in the evening, and relativistic wonder romanticizes life.

How leading figures lose sight of this at times I'll never know, apart from COVID-19 measures, even if they must lay down the law.

Collective working days, individualistic nights, perhaps provide a working balance.

Constant adherence to everything disenchants so much endeavour.

Todos lo saben

A wedding brings a family together to exalt in celebration, the festivities overflowing with spirit, inhibitions let loose to praise.

But as guards are let down and passions erupt, covetous malfeasance clandestinely violates.

Soon it is known that kidnapping is afoot, and the identity of the perpetrator remains a bitter mystery.

Old school social relations call motives into question, as despondent candour joylessly obscures lucid trust.

Financial responsibility dismally beckons, a lifetime of hard work hauntingly underlying stoic sacrifice.

The past interrogatively echoes.

As the present crumbles astray.

Emergent futures contend in Todos lo saben indeed, as disturbing essentials anxiously prognosticate.

Hives of activity maddeningly posture before settling down with forlorn resignation.

Its characters are strong, compassionate, resilient, loving.

They don't only care for their immediate family, but seek the prosperity of their workforce as well.

Like a versatile community.

The film excels at presenting passionate logic, the overwhelming emotions that characterize sincere distress rationally generated with sober feeling.

Everything's understood with astute enough composure.

It matures like the vines its reels cultivate, coming of age in the mid-afternoon sun.

Storms may disrupt its smooth delicate maturation, but not without augmenting rough unique compelling flavour.

It examines religion without preaching, infidelities without scorn, science without authentication, loyalty forbidding dependence.

Even though characters seek just outcomes, it doesn't mean it's easy, and even though they have resources they can access, it doesn't mean alternative solutions are shelved.

Suspicions bluntly arise.

Level heads contemplatively acquiesce.

Like culture under seige.

Todos lo saben peacefully reckons.

Bridesmaids

And several individuals got together in order to attend various gatherings in regards to the wedding of a mutual friend. A film chronicling their activities was created, known as Bridesmaids, a work of fiction, illustrating what indeed might have happened if their true feelings had been disseminated. Its plot doesn't exactly recalibrate cultural coordinates from a previously unconsidered point of view, but the execution of its comedy and witty observations work well, fresh and lively contents inhabiting a traditional form.

Childhood friends Annie (Wiig) and Lillian's (Maya Rudolph) seamless relationship is ruffled after Lillian decides to get married and becomes closer with her fiancé's boss's wife Helen (Rose Byrne). Helen is a beautiful wealthy impeccably dressed detail oriented condescending and competitive success. Annie is struggling financially, living in an apartment with two roommates, has seen her business go belly-up, occasionally dates an asshole, and is charming and beautiful yet depressed and sullen.

Helen consistently outwits Annie as she plans events for Lillian's wedding, always choosing a more expensive option, stealing her ideas, and making everything "big C" Cutesy.

The situation implodes during Lillian's shower, where complimentary puppies are dispensed, and Annie has a nervous breakdown.

There's a certain art to taking a character's misfortunes, accentuating them tenfold, making everything miserable, inappropriate reaction after inappropriate reaction, stifling impotence, incompetent recalcitrance, and making it funny.

The character has to be easy to relate to and suffering under traumatic conditions of which he or she is also the co-author.

It's not that Annie's reactions are really that inappropriate, she just honestly responds to difficult challenges wherein her genuine ideas are infantalized by people possessing far more resources or some form of leverage that necessitates her submissiveness.

Tension is slowly built until it erupts in an explosive fortissimo.

Old and new worlds wantonly collide in a sophisticated psychological war of attrition.

Scenes contains jokes which cleverly suggest logical extremes.

And there's a porcupine who crosses the road going bumba bumba.

I don't know what it's like to get married, and frankly, I don't want to know. And having learned from Bridesmaids that wedding preparations often dissolve the very friendships they're supposed to strengthen, I can't help but wonder if married people ever have any friends that aren't strategically related to their next five year plan.
