Cynicism

For the right, it's essential to ethically treat religion's ideals fantastically by establishing a political system that praises them while realistically ensuring they'll never come to fruition, thereby manufacturing perennial tasteless hope.

For the left, it's essential to politically treat religion's ideals realistically by establishing an ethical system that radicalizes them (thereby alienating people by making them seem to pure) while fantastically ensuring that they'll come to fruition (everyone's broke), thereby manufacturing complacent despair.
