I used to wonder why teachers complained from time to time about their contracts, because they had the Summer off plus multiple weeks throughout the year.
But after working as a teacher for awhile I can honestly state that I've never had a job that demands more of my time.
You basically don't stop working from September to June and the precious little time you have to spend doing something that isn't related to your classes often isn't scheduled to catch up on much needed sleep.
It's one of the toughest jobs out there and it takes around three weeks of rest in the Summer just to bounce back from how tired you are at the end of the year.
If you're complaining about how teachers dispute their contracts, try being one for a month.
After that you'll be hittin' the picket lines along with 'em.
Passionately so.
