Can't believe a basketball team from New York City didn't win the NBA Championship for 53 years (cool to see them win again). 🏀

Can't believe a hockey team from Toronto hasn't won the NHL Championship for . ! 🏒

Go Habs, Raptors, Oilers, and Senators! 🏒🏀

Lovin' the NHL and NBA playoffs!

Monday, June 23, 2025

I'm happy for Oklahoma City fans. As far as I know, Oklahoma City has never had an NFL, NHL or MLB team, so it's cool to see the city win its first professional sports championship ever (from the big 4).

Nice!

*Sad to see Indiana lose as well. The Colts have won it before though. That was a huge win! 🏈

It's kind of dull when the Celtics win.

But they do consistently win, inasmuch as it's incredibly difficult to win the NBA Championship, and they win more often than most teams.

Impressive.

Hustle

Hustle does a great job of pointing out how much solid work goes into crafting a professional sports team, just by focusing primarily on one gifted scout (Adam Sandler as Stanley Sugarman) who runs into problems when the owner's son takes over (Ben Foster as Vince Merrick).

It's like a 24/7 job it's rare he ever stops concentrating on basketball, he consistently sacrifices so much for the team without much complaint or sharp contradiction.

He has an amazing job and gets to spend his time doing something he loves, and can concretely see his emphatic results each time a player he's chosen makes a cool play.

I saw him like a representative for what generally goes on behind the scenes in professional sports, for the tens of thousands of people diligently working to put a dynamic team together.

Even when that team isn't playing well the wheels are still in perpetual motion, making deals and calls and observations hopefully leading to that next championship.

When you think about how many thousands of people are habitually competing to build the next champion, it does seem like the odds against anyone ever winning are so astronomically high that victory's miraculous.

And then if you see your outstanding favourites lose the Super Bowl three times in your curious youth, and then come back to pick up back to back wins less than ten years later, with the same quarterback, you can't help but be thankful to the organization.

If you do actually win the championship it objectively validates every decision made that season, you can take a break and sit back and bask in heralded pseudo-divine contemplation.

Each step of the way not just the winner it's still better to get there than not make it at all, it's like every organization is fighting for each inch of ground at all times and never even considering coming up short.

At least that's what characters like Stanley make me think with their healthy attitudes that keep things focused, with some jobs you have to continuously adapt at any given time with inquisitive reflexes.

That was amazing when the Raptors won I never thought I'd see that happen.

I was pissed Dad didn't get to see the Leafs win again before he passed.

But honestly, he loved basketball so much more.

I'm so happy he got to see that.

Hustle's worth checking out.

Glad to see Denver just picked up another title, the first for the Nuggets Franchise.

Isn't it an amazing feeling?

The last time the Broncos won, I was full-on happy for two weeks, not to mention when the Raptors picked up their first NBA Championship.

Two weeks of solid bliss.

I hope the rest of June is amazing in Colorado!

It's always cool when a team who's never won before wins!

Hats off to Jamal Murray!

Note: I'm sad to see the Raptors didn't make it farther into the NBA playoffs this year, but I was still super happy to see they had made the playoffs at all, after losing Lowry, Leonard, Green, Gasol, Powell, and Ibaka (how is that possible?).  That's coaching from Nick Nurse and all-star determination from Siakam, VanVleet, and the rest of the team. Hoping they improve a lot next year. But still happy to see how well they did this year.

Raptors!

Fare thee well Serge Ibaka and Marc Gasol. You're missed for sure back home with the Raptors.

Rather annoyed that the L.A Clippers keep scoopin' great players from the Raptors. Lakers too I guess.

Fare thee well Floyd Little in the great beyond. Hopefully things go just as well for you wherever you end up.

Broncos! Raptors!

Cool to see LeBron James win another championship.

I've never really watched him play, but due to his size, I thought I would see him under the basket more often (not that he isn't often there). But there he is, chillin' at the three point line sinking shot after shot after shot. Anthony Davis too. It was really something to see. I don't recall ever seeing giant players shoot so well.

Glad there were NBA playoffs this year.

Go Raptors!

Always remember that the Raptors did win. I'm not sure if you know how freakin' impossible it is to win the NBA finals if you're not the team with the best players in the league, but it is a rare occurrence to be cherished and applauded. Not that the Raptors don't have the best players in the league. Watching Lowry for the last two rounds has made it clear that he's incredible and top 10 for sure. And the rest of the Raptors are A+ no doubt and make up for their lack of a LeBron James with outstanding defence. Just remember, every year, sometimes for multiple seasons, there are around three or four teams that really stand out. And it's super difficult to be the best of those three or four teams. Look at the Vancouver Canucks, the Buffalo Bills, the Minnesota Vikings, the San Jose Sharks, the Phoenix Suns, all stellar organizations that could make the top 4 or 5 but never came through with the win. And the Raptors did come through with an amazing freakin' win which is so freakin' sweet and still will be for many more years to come.

Love them Raptors.

Hoping it's not another Celtics/Lakers final.
