My latest pastime is to go to déps or convenience stores not in search of what I am looking for, or what the dép is known for selling, but rather to check out the wall found in each dép devoted to items that you may need, or may have needed, one day, but never think/thought to buy there.

I search the wall for items that have clearly been sitting there for years, perhaps decades, items that for some reason never sold, yet were still never removed from the wall, items that perhaps no longer work, or at least don't work as well as they would have back then, and then purchase them for full price and take them home, to see if their lifespan is longer than I perhaps shortsightedly anticipated.

I imagine a list may still exist, an account, a record, of all the items the convenience store has purchased, perhaps dating back to the 1980s, and that the store owner has been waiting to remove the item I have just purchased from that record year after year after year after year, and that since someone has finally purchased the item, they can now remove it from their carefully tracked inventory, and replace it with another unassuming contemporary antiquity, which may also not sell anytime soon, or perhaps, forevermore.

It's win win.
