From "Smyke"

For reasons of which we are still unaware Smyke disappeared for 2 years at the height of our productivity. His motivations were autistic so we couldn't comprehend their particularly verbose linearity and were more interested in the presentation. He really helped expand things. But in order for us to expand he had to expand and if that meant not expanding with us for a time we had to accept this and find replacements (although we could never replace his gift we could find others). Just said he was grabbing the plane and took off, for two years, ate a burger. If anything he knew what to do and that only he could figure it out and it was obvious to us that others had tried to figure it out for him whom he resignedly resented but ignored while writing (it was his life). When he came back things had changed but the "what have you" remained and he found his way. He always knew he could stay making it easier.
