I kept the diary hidden in a drawer in the archives in a desk no one used and thought it was safe. Like Ross in Polanski's
MacBeth, I played my cards creatively and my position prospered. There were people who took me into their confidence internally and I was able, to the best of my abilities, use that information to ensure Gauze Industry's continuing affluence. But I never thought they'd find it and the consequent questions landed me in solitary, after the goldrush.
