Takes a Long Time
The moon was half-full. Carl was eating a brick of cheese and some crackers. He became hungry after eight. It was freezing on the balcony where the squirrel lived, was setting up for winter. A pile of lizards was basking on a rock somewhere else, somewhere deserty. There was a feather in his hat and Lisa had a sunflower behind her ear. They smiled at one another and went for a drive. Deck the halls sang the chorus. They were listening to the beat, liked to hike on weekends and then sail. When the wind died down they enjoyed staring at the water. Once Carl fell in and Lisa laughed. They stopped at a variety store to buy some cola. The lake had frozen and the moon was slowly waning.
